Zara has recently graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Environmental Planning in the Science and the Environment Stream.

 

During her studies, she learnt planning skills such as the preparation of resource consent applications and hearings alongside the writing of project engagement proposals and section 42A reports. Other valuable skills were gained through the learning of Environmental Law, Māori Resource Management, Environmental Policy, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

 

Zara was a class representative throughout her studies at the University of Waikato and led many group projects across several papers. Zara was involved in a number of field trips that enabled her to undertake field work both relating to the planning and science aspects of her degree. She took part in environmental sampling, coastal planting, water quality and lab testing.

 

Zara has interests in all aspects of planning. At GMD she has been getting involved in many projects, and will continue to do so as she continues to broaden and develop her skills in planning. At present she is processing Land Use Development Applications on behalf of Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

 

Zara is soon to be a graduate member of the New Zealand Planning Institute.

In her spare time she enjoys reading, exercising, travelling, exploring in nature, trying new food, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys meeting new people and making new connections so feel free to reach out!
