Gavin is Managing Director and Planning Lead at GMD Consultants. Gavin is an experienced planner and policy analyst with experience in local government and private consultancy work, in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Gavin has significant experience in land development, consultation processes and built environment strategies and policy. Most recently Gavin has been providing strategic policy advice and reviews to a range of private and public organisations, with a particular focus around statutory responsibilities in relation to the Waikato River, and the impacts of land use allocations impacting the Waikato Region. Through Gavin’s work on Waikato River projects, Gavin has gained significant experience working with and on behalf of iwi. This experience and understanding provides a unique perspective on planning processes and how engagement and co-management should look and be undertaken.

Gavin is also Better Business Case trained (NZ Treasury) and has undertaken strategic business cases in relation to regional cycling in the Waikato and Public Transport provision in Tokoroa. Whilst working in England, Gavin also had the unique opportunity to work on large scale sporting venues.

Outside of the office Gavin is a keen sports supporter and participant. Gavin sits on the Board of New Zealand Universities Rugby and is a Trustee on the Counties Manukau Sports Trust.
